Areas of interest:

  • Asteroseismology
  • Exoplanets
  • Observational cosmology (AGNs and quasars) and galactic clusters

Elham Ziaali is a postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (IAA-CSIC), in Granada (Spain) as a part of the preparation team of mission PLATO 2.0.

She gained her Ph.D. (Feb.2020) in stellar astrophysics (eclipsing binaries, Asteroseismology of pulsating stars: individually Delta Scuti stars) from the Research Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics of Maragha (RIAAM), in Iran. In May 2018, she started a joint project on Delta Scuti stars, supervised by Prof. Timothy R. Bedding in the University of Sydney along with her Ph.D. They considered the period-luminosity relation of about 2000 Delta Scuti stars (observed from both space and ground-based telescopes) by using the more precise Gaia DR2 parallaxes, which had not been explored before.

She continued the Asteroseismology of pulsating stars by using a new tool, that is “network science” as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Zanjan, Iran (Dec. 2021), under the supervision of Prof. Hossein Safari and funded by the Iran

National Science Foundation (INSF). This topic is continuing at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (IAA-CSIC), in Granada from Mar. 2024.

Research lines:

  • Asteroseismological study of pulsating stars, in particular, Delta Scuti stars.
  • Complex network approach about pulsating stars' light curves.
